"Iran will produce 15 million mt of crude steel including private sector output in the newly started Iranian year [March 21, 2011-March 20, 2012]," stated Hasan Pelarak, head of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

Mr. Pelerak went on to add, "We already have installed an annual capacity of 20 million mt [for production of crude steel], while we will add an extra capacity of 22 million mt within the next four years." Thus, within four years, Iran expects to achieve an overall annual crude steel output capacity of 42 million mt.
