Industrial output of China’s steel sector up 5.5% in January-April

In the January-April period this year, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China recorded a year-on-year rise of 5.5 percent, 0.4 percentage points slower compared to the increase in the first three months of the current year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In April alone, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China indicated a month-on-month increase of 4.3 percent, 1.7 percentage points slower than see in March.

In the first four months, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 3.6 percent year on year. In April alone, the overall value-added industrial output increased by 5.6 percent year on year, while decreasing by 0.47 percent month on month.   

In April this year, of the 41 industrial sectors in China, 25 witnessed year-on-year increases in value-added industrial output.   

In April, outputs in the mining and manufacturing sectors remained stable and increased by 6.5 percent year on year, respectively.
