The Indonesian Anti-dumping Committee (KADI), part of the Trade Remedies Authority, which operates under the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and Trade, has announced anti-dumping measures on color-coated steel sheet imports from China and Vietnam.
KADI initiated the dumping investigation on December 23, 2016, following complaints by PT NS BlueScope Indonesia. KADI stated that from July 2015 to June 2016, Indonesia imported 224,120 mt of color-coated steel, of which 196,191 mt or 87.5 percent of total imports came from Vietnam and China. KADI held a public hearing on the anti-dumping investigation in January 2018.
KADI announced a levy of anti-dumping duties from 12.01-28.49 percent on color-coated steel sheets imported from Vietnam. The Indonesian Trade Security Committee (KPPI) proposed anti-dumping measures on Vietnamese product for a five-year period. It is unclear whether Chinese color-coated steel sheets will face the same anti-dumping rates or higher.
The color-coated steel imports that were investigated had the HS codes of 7210.70.70.00, 7212.40.10.00 and 7212.40.20.00.
In recent years, Vietnam’s steel exports have faced anti-dumping lawsuits and safeguard duties from many countries, including the US, EU, Turkey, Brazil, Australia and other ASEAN countries.
