Indian pig iron exports decline in H1 FY 2019

According to customs data, India exported 106,560 mt of pig iron in H1 FY 2019 which covers the period from April through September 2018. Compared to 446,250 mt exported in the twelve-month period in FY 2018, the half year amount which is only 24 percent.

In H1 FY 2019, India exported approximately 48,700 mt (46 percent) of pig iron to Bangladesh and 57,860 mt (54 percent) to Thailand.

The companies that exported ex-India pig iron were MMTC (Metals and Miners Trading Corporation of India) with 46,860 mt (44 percent), Vedanta with 32,700 mt (31 percent), and Vizag Steel with 27,000 mt (25 percent).
