Indian coking coal port import traffic up 4.21% in Apr-Dec 2017

India's coking coal import traffic handled by all major ports in the country was recorded at 37.75 million metric tons in the April-December period of 2017, up 4.21 percent over the corresponding period of 2016, according to data sourced from the Indian Ports Association.

Among all the major ports, Paradip Port located in the eastern Indian state of Odisha recorded the highest volume of coking coal import traffic during April-December 2017 at 9.37 million mt, compared to 7.81 million mt during the corresponding period of 2016.

However, the data showed only a marginal growth in iron ore traffic handled by the major Indian ports at 33.46 million mt during April-December 2017, which was just 1.36 percent higher year on year.
