India initiates AD investigation against HR imports

According to latest reports from the industry, India is initiating an anti-dumping investigation against imports of hot rolled coil, sheet and plate from Australia, Canada, EU, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, covering the period of April 1, 2000 through to September 30, 2001. Industry analysts comment that what India aims is to ban exports by South Africa, Romania and Venezuela basically, yet includes the remaining aforementioned countries only to make up the numbers. The product under the scope of investigation is described as; hot rolled coils, sheets, plates and strips of a width of 600mm or more, not clad, plated or coated with a size of 1.5mm to 20mm for coils; less than and up to 5 mm for sheets, 5 mm and above for plates of all grades.
