Ilyich reports 2006 production results

The Ukrainian steelmaker Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) has reported its preliminary production results for 2006. Accordingly, during 2006 Ilyich increased its pig iron production by 3.7 percent and its finished steel products output by two percent year on year to 5.4 million metric tons and 5.8 million metric tons respectively. During the same period, the plant registered almost no change in crude steel output, producing about seven million metric tons. In addition, in 2006 Ilyich recorded a 16 percent decrease year on year in its agglomerate production which dropped to 11.3 million metric tons. Meanwhile, the plant's 2006 pipe production increased by 13 percent year on year, rising to 111,000 metric tons.
