Hebei Province eliminates 25.55 million mt of steel capacity so far in 2017

Li Qian, vice governor of China’s Hebei Province, has announced that the province has eliminated 25.55 million mt of steelmaking production capacity and 20.66 million mt of iron-making production capacity in the current year up to the end of October.

According to the original target set at the beginning of the year, Hebei Province will eliminate a combined total of 31.86 million mt of steelmaking and iron-making production capacity in 2017.

In addition to the elimination of steel and iron-making capacities, Hebei Province has also eliminated 10.5 million mt of coal production capacity and 8.08 million mt of coke output capacity up to the end of October.
