According to major Chinese steel producer Hebei Iron and Steel Group, the
steelmaking plant No. 3 of its subsidiary Handan Iron and Steel Group (Hansteel) has successfully produced SAE1008-M cold heading steel and rolled it into wire rod.
The SAE1008-M cold heading quality steel has a low carbon, low silicon and high aluminum content and will mainly be applied in the
production of nuts, bolts, screws, rivets, etc.
Hansteel lately produced 2,800 mt of billet of the steel in question and rolled it into 16 mm wire rod.
