The government of the western Indian state of Goa has commenced its second attempt to auction 24 idle low-grade iron ore dumps, a government official said.

The official said that the process of e-auctioning these low-grade ore dumps has started, including dumps which had been put up for auction earlier but did not receive any bids.

Earlier, the Goa government had put up five idle low-grade iron ore dumps for auction but, barring one, no bids were received for them.

The official said that most of the dumps were located in the southern regions of the state. The smaller dumps were of volumes ranging from 100,000 mt to 2.6 million mt, while the largest dump at Sattari amounted to 10 million mt.
