On Monday, November 28, the government of the western Indian state of Goa allocated iron ore production quotas to four more mines within the overall 20 million mt annual ceiling laid down by India’s Supreme Court, enabling these mines to resume production immediately, a government official said on Tuesday, November 29.

The four mines are Salgaonkar Mining Industries, Salitho Ores Limited, Sova Iron Ore and Marzook and Cadar Limited, with respective allocated production quotas of 46,000 mt, 277,000 mt, 346,000 mt and 115,000 mt.

With this new quota allocation, the total iron ore mining production already allocated for the current year has reached 16 million mt, leaving another 4 million metric tons of production left to be allocated to other yet-to-be-operationalized mines in the state, the official added.
