According to the preliminary data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global pig iron production in August this year came to 84.42 million metric tons, decreasing slightly by 0.16 percent as compared to the previous month and up 3.03 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2010 world pig iron output amounted to 690.94 million metric tons, rising by 19.52 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
