Global pig iron ouput up 2.15 percent in Oct over Sept

In October this year, global pig iron production amounted to 91.4 million metric tons, increasing by 2.15 percent both compared to the previous month and on year-on-year basis, following two consecutive months of month-on-month decrease, according to the preliminary data covering 38 countries released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
 
In the meantime, in the first 10 months of this year, world pig iron production amounted to 927.3 million metric tons, rising by 1.55 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
 
In October this year, the top pig iron producer in the world according to worldsteel was again China with 54 million mt, up six percent compared to October 2011 and constituting 59 percent of global pig iron production.
