Germany’s y-o-y steel output keeps sliding

Germany's crude steel and pig iron production continued to show a year-on-year decline in September. Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office indicate that the country's crude steel output fell 7 percent year on year to 3.62 million tons in September. Pig iron output dropped 6.8 percent year on year to 2.29 million tons. Compared to previous month, September production of crude steel rose 9 percent and pig iron production increased 6 percent. Crude steel output totaled 33.32 million tons through the first nine months of the year, down 4.6 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 21.55 million tons, down 4.4 percent year on year.
