Germany’s iron ore import prices 98.4 percent higher than a year ago

According to a report released by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in December 2010 the import price of iron ore increased by 98.4 percent year on year in Germany, while it rose by 1.4 percent as compared to November.

Meanwhile, in December 2010, nickel imported by Germany for steel production was 51.3 percent more expensive compared to December 2009 and was up 3.7 percent compared to the previous month.

In the month in question, the import price of pig iron, steel and ferroalloys in Germany rose by 29.7 percent year on year, while the month-on-month increase rate was recorded at 1.4 percent.
