Germany’s steel output up in October

Germany's both crude steel and pig iron production started to pick up in October 2005. Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office indicate that the country's crude steel output rose 5.6 percent year on year to 4.07 million tons in October. Pig iron output increased 8.4 percent year on year to 2.58 million tons. Compared to previous month, October production of crude steel rose around 12.4 percent and pig iron production increased around 12.8 percent Crude steel output totaled 37.39 million tons through the first ten months of the year, down 3.6 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 24.13 million tons, down 3.2 percent year on year.
