Germany's motor vehicle output up 1.7 percent in January-August

In August of the current year, new motor vehicle registrations (including passenger cars and commercial vehicles) in the German market totaled 247,770 units, up 4.72 percent month on month and decreasing by 55.4 percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year Germany's new motor vehicle registrations increased by 5.33 percent year on year, totaling 2,346,070 units.
 
According to the VDA, in August this year 349,790 motor vehicles rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a month-on-month decrease of 37 percent and a year-on-year increase of 47.8 percent. German motor vehicle output in the first eight months of the current year amounted to 3,990,760 units, showing a 1.7 percent growth  from the same period of 2014.
 
In August this year, a total of 278,380 motor vehicles were exported from Germany, down 35.4 percent month on month and increasing by 22 percent compared to August 2014. In the first eight months, German motor vehicle exports amounted to 3,078,550 units, increasing by 2.47 percent year on year.
