In June this year, Germany's crude steel output decreased by 9.2 percent month on month to 3.56 million metric tons, rising by 0.6 percent compared to June 2013, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). Meanwhile, in the first half of the current year, the country's crude steel output increased by 4.2 percent year on year to 22.48 million metric tons.
On the other hand, in May this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.25 million metric tons, indicating an increase of 5.9 percent, including 2.12 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 10.3 percent, and 1.13 million metric tons of long steel products - down 1.5 percent, all on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the first five months this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel production amounted to 15.68 million metric tons, increasing by 0.3 percent, including 10.34 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 1.1 percent, and 5.34 million metric tons of long steel products - down 1.4 percent, all on-year-on year basis.
