Germany’s hot rolled steel output down six percent in H1

In July this year, Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.6 million metric tons, decreasing by three percent month on month and down 2.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the first seven months of 2012, Germany's crude steel production totaled 25.5 million metric tons, falling by five percent as compared to the same period of 2011.
 
On the other hand, in June this year Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.2 million metric tons, decreasing eight percent year on year, including 2.07 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 9.6 percent year on year, and 1.1 million metric tons of long steel products - down five percent year on year.

In the first half of the year, the country's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 19 million metric tons, decreasing six percent compared to H1 2011, including 12.5 million metric tons of flat steel products - down eight percent year on year, and 6.5 million metric tons of long steel products - down 1.7 percent year on year.
