Germany's crude steel output down 5.9 percent in October

In October this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by one percent month on month to 3.54 million metric tons, but decreased by 5.9 percent compared to October 2013, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). Meanwhile, in the first ten months of the current year, the country's crude steel output increased by 1.6 percent year on year to 36.1 million metric tons.

On the other hand, in September this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.01 million metric tons, indicating a decrease of 2.5 percent, including 1.89 million metric tons of flat steel products - down two percent, and 1.17 million metric tons of long steel products - down 3.3 percent, all on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel production amounted to 27.65 million metric tons, increasing by 0.5 percent, including 18.24 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 2.4 percent, and 9.41 million metric tons of long steel products - down 2.9 percent, all on-year-on year basis.
