Germany posts year-on-year rise in steel output
Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office show that the country's crude steel output rose 8.9 percent year on year to 3.98 million metric tons in June. Pig iron output increased 8.6 percent year on year to 2.53 million metric tons. Compared to previous month, June crude steel production fell 1.0 percent and pig iron production decreased 0.4 percent. Crude steel output totaled 23.32 million metric tons through the first six months of the year, up 1.8 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 14.94 million metric tons, up 0.4 percent.
