Germany posts rise in steel output
Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office show that the country's crude steel output rose 14.5 percent year on year to 3.99 million metric tons in July. Pig iron output increased 21.2 percent year on year to 2.69 million metric tons. Compared to previous month, July crude steel production rose 0.2 percent and pig iron production grew 6.2 percent. Crude steel output totaled 27.32 million metric tons through the first seven months of the year, up 3.5 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 17.65 million metric tons, up 3.2 percent.
