German new car registrations up 21 percent in September

According to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Germany's passenger car output in September this year decreased by five percent year on year to 508,000 units, while a monthly increase of 56.27 percent was registered due to the now-ended scrap scheme and usual low production in August.

In September, German automotive industry's passenger car exports totaled 357,800 units, decreasing by 11 percent year on year, and up 57 percent over August.

During the month in question, new passenger car registrations increased by 21 percent to 316,000.

In the January-September period of this year, Germany's total passenger car output totaled approximately 3.56 million units, down 18 percent, passenger car exports amounted to 2.37 million units , down 27 percent, while new registrations increased by 26 percent to 2.99 million, all compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
