Gerdau will expand production capacity by 20% at Usiba

By end of last week, Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau announced that they are planning a Real 110 million ($32 million) investment to increase crude steel production capacity at Usiba plant, located in the north-eastern state of Bahia, with the purpose of meeting requirements of civil construction and industrial markets. Therefore basically, investment will be for continuous caster purchase for billet production. Upon completion of this expansion investment, crude steel capacity is expected to increase annual capacity by 20% to 600'000mt and annual rolled product capacity to 500'000mt with a 25% increase.
