Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau has officially started up a new profiles production facility in Mexico through its Gerdau Corsa subsidiary, according to media reports.

The structural profiles plant is located in the city of Sahagú, Hidalgo state, and will help the Brazilian long steel producer to expand its steel output in the country. The profiles facility is said to have a capacity to produce 700,000 mt/year of finished steel.

Gerdau invested $600 million in the plant, which is the company's largest investment in Mexico so far.
