Brazil's national statistics agency reported in Rio de Janeiro Thursday that gross domestic product in Brazil grew 0.5 percent in Q3 from the previous quarter and 6.7 percent from the Q3 2009. Q3 growth was a significant decline from the 1.8 percent quarterly expansion in Q2, and 2.3 percent growth in Q1.
Investments in the country were up 21.2 percent year-over-year, and consumer spending was up 5.9 percent over the same period. Manufacturing in Q3 fell 1.3 percent over the previous quarter, while imports rose 7.4 percent, and exports were up 2.4 percent.
