Several trade groups of the G-20, an international forum for the governments and central bank governors, have urged their leaders to keep markets open instead of imposing new trade barriers, according to a media report from Estadao.
The letter also asked the G-20 governments to take actions against the unfair trade and the industrial subsidies.
“We urge G-20 leaders to assume their responsibility and guarantee the necessary grounds to multi-lateral cooperation,” the letter said.
The letter was scheduled to be released on Thursday in Buenos Aires, as the forum meets. Trade groups from the US, Brazil, Canada, Germany and the European Union signed the document, the media report said.
The letter also labeled China as a “non-market” economy.
“We’re concerned with the stability of the global trade system based in rules. To generate prosperity, companies need trustworthy and modern international norms, as well as predictability, stability and strong and impartial judges.”
