In June this year, French crude steel production amounted to 1,368,150 metric tons, decreasing by 6.12 percent year on year and down 6.17 percent as compared to May this year, according to the data provided by the French Steel Federation (FFA).
In June, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 11.9 percent year on year, reaching 587,400 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 780,750 metric tons, declining by 16.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first half of the current year, France's crude steel production amounted to 8,108,800 mt, decreasing 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year. In this period, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 12.8 percent year on year, reaching 3,265,600 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 4,843,200 mt, declining by nine percent year on year.
The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in June this year was 23.3 percent lower than in June 2008 and that crude steel production in the first six months of the year was 18.9 percent below the January-June 2008 production figures.
