In November this year, French crude steel production amounted to 1,289,950 metric tons, decreasing by 1.6 percent year on year and 6.11 percent as compared to 1,374,000 mt output in October this year, according to the data provided by the French Steel Federation (FFA). In October, crude steel production in France had increased by 0.3 percent year on year.
In the given month, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 21.8 percent year on year, reaching 538,750 metric tons, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 781,500 metric tons, down by 13.5 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of 2010, crude steel production in France stood at 14.29 million metric tons, increasing by 21.7 percent as compared with the corresponding period of 2009. In the period in question, production using EAFs increased by 7.3 percent, while BF steel production rose 31.9 percent, reaching 5.21 million metric tons and 9.08 million metric tons respectively, both compared to January-November 2009.
The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in the first 11 months of the year was 20.3 percent below the January-November 2007 production figures.
