Swiss-headquartered company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for October and for the first ten months of 2009.
Accordingly, in the January-October period the company registered a two percent decrease year on year in its iron ore production to 23.443 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw a four percent fall to 8.698 million metric tons.
During the given period, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) decreased by 4.7 percent year on year to 7.116 million metric tons. The company also processed 85,900 mt of pellets from purchased raw materials, bringing its overall pellet output to 7.2 million mt - down 8.3 percent year on year.
In October this year, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) was also at full capacity, but registered a small decrease of 0.7 percent month on month to 744,800 mt. On the other hand, its pellet production from purchased raw materials increased from 10,000 mt in September to 40,100 mt, thus leading to a 3.2 percent increase month on month in the company's overall October pellet output, which amounted to 784,900 mt.
Meanwhile, in October, the company's iron ore output went up by 8.7 percent, while its concentrate production decreased slightly, by 0.3 percent, compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.556 million and 934,000.
Ferrexpo has been producing at full capacity since March this year, while its October production, including output from purchased raw materials, was the highest volume achieved in 2009.
