Ferrexpo’s iron ore pellet output edges down in 2019

Swiss-headquartered miner Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has posted weaker production figures for last year in the pellet segment. However, the results for the fourth quarter were positive.

Ferrexpo produced 10.518 million mt of iron ore pellets in 2019, down 0.8 percent year on year, according to the statement published at London Metal Exchange. In the October-December quarter, pellet production increased by three percent compared to the previous quarter of the same year to 2.628 million mt.

In addition, in 2019 the company’s production of pellets from iron ore with 62 percent Fe content dropped sharply by 41 percent to 402,830 mt, though its output of the product from ore with 65 percent Fe content rose by 1.6 percent to 10.116 million mt, year on year, SteelOrbis has learned.
