The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russian Federation (FAS) has announced that it still uncertain about an application submitted by Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) offering to buy Verkh-Isetsky Iron and Steel Works (VIZ-Stal). The deal would allow NLMK to control the 100 percent of the Russian market of transformer steel. In December 2005, NLMK applied to FAS requesting permission on the deal. However, FAS was not able to make up mind on the issue yet. The asset also interests MMK, who waits whether NLMK's request will be turned down or not.
