FAS initiates case against Russian customs over scrap exports

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has announced its initiation of an administrative case against the Russian Federal Customs Service (FTS) for violating Clause 3, Part 1, Article 15 of the federal law "On Protection of Competition."

Accordingly, the FAS suspects that the FTS adopted acts leading to restriction of competition in the market for ferrous scrap exports, and which limited the rights of economic entities as regards selling, buying, or otherwise acquiring or exchanging goods in the Russian Federation.

The case was initiated upon a petition of the Association of Secondary Ferrous Metals Procurement and Processing Companies.
