Global steelmaker Evraz said in a press release Friday that it will restart its spiral pipe mill in Portland, Oregon. The facility has been idled since July 2009. The restart is anticipated for the first half of 2013, once the installation of new equipment is complete.

Evraz said that because of its proximity to the fast-growing Bakken and Western Canada oil and natural gas regions, as well as oil fields in the US Rockies, EVRAZ Portland's spiral mill is ideally positioned to supply pipe for exploration and transmission.
