Evraz receives EU's clearance for Stratcor acquisition

Russian Evraz Group and Japanese Sajitz Corporation (Sajitz) have received the European Union (EU) clearance for the acquisition of joint control of US based Strategic Minerals Corporation (Strategic Minerals) under the EU Merger Regulation. Under the deal's conditions, signed in April 2006, Evraz received 73 percent stake in Strategic Minerals for $110 million and Sajitz maintained control of the remaining shares. Statcor is active in the mining and processing of vanadium and vanadium products.
