Local Turkish scrap prices remain unchanged

Turkey’s local scrap market has remained stable over the past week. However, the deep decline recorded in Turkey’s import scrap market is expected to be reflected in local scrap procurement prices very quickly. Only one Turkish mill has announced a TRY 100-200/mt or $4-5/mt decline in local scrap purchase prices over the past week, while the others have kept their prices unchanged. The unchanged lira-based quotations were matched by a drop of $1-2/mt in dollar prices due to the depreciating Turkish lira.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained at TRY 15,700-18,600/mt. Due to the fluctuations observed in the exchange rate, the dollar-based quotations have changed from $341-404/mt to $339-402/mt.
