Eurofer could ask to implement quotas on country basis

There is a rumour in the European steel market that Eurofer is considering to ask for a change on the exisiting safeguard measures scheme for steel imports into the EU. The European producers have been complaining about certain countries shipping extremely high quantities in a very short period of time. Such complaints have started particularly following hundreds of thousand tons of US origin steel products hit the EU market. Taking into consideration those complaints, Eurofer may ask for safeguard measures to be turned into a a certain system where nominal quota per each exporting country will be specified, according to the rumours.
