The European Commission has announced that it has ordered the registration of cold rolled stainless flat imports from China and Taiwan, highlighting the possibility of imposing antidumping and countervailing duties for both import sources.

"Imports of the product concerned should be made subject to registration for the purpose of ensuring that, should the investigations result in findings leading to the imposition of antidumping and/or countervailing duties, those duties can, if the necessary conditions are fulfilled, be levied retroactively," the Commission said.

In June this year, the European Commission initiated an antidumping duty investigation on cold rolled stainless flat imports from China and Taiwan and also in August initiated a countervailing duty investigation for the same product.
