EU steel imports decrease further in April

According to the European steel association EUROFER, in the month of April this year European Union (EU-27) flat steel imports totaled 951,000 mt, while EU-27 long steel imports amounted to 269,000 mt. Accordingly, overall EU-27 steel imports in April totaled 1.220 million mt, down 4.53 percent month on month and decreasing by 37.17 percent compared to the same month in 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of the current year steel imports into the European Union declined by 35.02 percent year on year to 4.75 million mt.
