EU starts AD probe on certain heavy plate imports from China

The European Commission has announced that it has launched an antidumping (AD) duty investigation on certain heavy plate imports of non-alloy or other alloy steel from China, following a complaint from the European Steel Association (EUROFER), alleging that these imports from China are being dumped and are thereby causing material injury to the EU industry.

EUROFER also alleged that the quantity and the prices of the imported product under investigation have had, among other consequences, a negative impact on the level of the sales prices, quantities sold, market share and profits of the EU industry, resulting in substantial adverse effects on the overall performance of the EU industry. The investigation covers the period from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.

The products subject to antidumping duty investigation currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208 51 20, 7208 51 91, 7208 51 98, 7208 52 91, 7208 90 20, 7208 90 80, 7225 40 40, 7225 40 60 and 7225 99 00.
