The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has initiated an antidumping (AD) duty investigation regarding imports of low carbon ferrochrome originating in China, Russia and Turkey.

The application lodged lodged on May 10 this year by the Association of European ferroalloy producers (Euroalliages) on behalf of the sole EU producer of low carbon ferrochrome, Elektrowerk Weisweiler GmbH, claims that imports of low carbon ferrochrome from China, Russia and Turkey are being dumped and are thereby causing material injury to the EU industry. The investigation will cover the period from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017.

The products in question currently fall within CN code 7202 49 50.
