The European Commission has announced that it has ordered the registration of high fatigue performance (HFP) rebar imports from China

Following a complaint lodged on March 17 this year by the European Steel Association (EUROFER) on behalf of European producers, the European Commission initiated on April 30 an antidumping proceeding with regard to imports of HRP rebar originating in China.

EUROFER claimed that the Chinese imports are causing injury to the European industry and that there was a substantial increase in the level of these imports, even following the investigation period, which would seriously undermine the remedial effect of the antidumping duty, if such a duty is to be applied. Therefore, on November 19 EUROFER requested that imports of the product concerned be made subject to registration, so that measures may subsequently be applied against those imports from the date of such registration.

The products in question currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7214 20 00, 7228 30 20, 7228 30 41, 7228 30 49, 7228 30 61, 7228 30 69, 7228 30 70 and 7228 30 89.
