EU-27 long steel imports down 7.34 percent in December

According to the European steel association EUROFER, in the month of December last year European Union (EU-27) flat steel imports totaled 709,000 mt, down 27.8 percent year on year, while long steel imports amounted to 227,000 mt, down 7.34 percent year on year. Accordingly, overall EU-27 steel imports in December totaled 935,000 mt, down 17.76 percent month on month and down 23.79 percent compared to the same month in 2010.

In addition, in 2011 total steel imports of the EU-27 amounted to 19.714 million mt, increasing by 25.15 percent compared to 2010.
