Industrial producer prices in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by one percent month on month in March, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In February, the revised month-on-month increase was 0.8 percent in the region.
As compared with March 2010, industrial producer prices in March this year in the EU-27 increased by 7.4 percent.
In March, prices in overall industry excluding the energy sector improved by 0.2 percent month on month and were up 4.6 percent year on year, while prices in the energy sector increased by 2.8 percent month on month and were up 14.1 percent year on year. Prices for durable consumer goods increased slightly by 0.3 percent over February this year and were up by 1.9 percent compared to March 2010.
On month-on-month basis, the highest increases in the overall index were recorded in the UK at three percent and in Denmark at 2.1 percent, in Greece at 1.5 percent and in Finland at 1.3 percent. The decreases were seen in Hungary and Malta at 0.1 percent, in Sweden at 0.2 percent and in Latvia at 0.3 percent.
