EU-27 industrial output down 0.2 percent in Oct from Sept

In October this year as compared with the previous month of September, seasonally-adjusted industrial production fell by 0.1 percent in the euro area and by 0.2 percent in the EU-27. In September, production had risen by two percent and 1.5 percent respectively, month on month.

Meanwhile, in October this year compared with October last year, seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 1.3 percent in the euro area and in the EU-27. These figures are released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

As compared to September, in October this year production of capital goods rose by 1.2 percent in the euro area and by 0.9 percent in the EU-27, while intermediate goods decreased by 0.8 percent both in the euro area and in the EU-27, non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.6 percent and by 0.3 percent respectively, while durable consumer goods fell by 0.4 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU-27.

Among the member states for which data are available, in October this year as compared to September, industrial production rose in eight states, fell in 14 and remained stable in France. The highest increases were registered in Ireland (+6.6%) and in Estonia (+2.9%), while the largest decreases were in Greece (-4.4%), in Lithuania (-3.7%) and in Luxembourg (-3.6%).

As compared to October last year, in October this year production of capital goods grew by 5.3 percent in the euro area and by 5.5 percent in the EU-27, intermediate goods increased by 0.4 percent and 0.6 percent respectively, durable consumer goods fell by 2.1 percent in the euro area and by 2.8 percent in the EU-27, non-durable consumer goods grew by 0.9 percent and 1.2 percent respectively, while production of energy decreased by 5.1 percent in the euro area and by 5.4 percent in the EU-27. 
 
Among the member states for which data are available, in October this year as compared to October last year, industrial production rose in 14 states and fell in nine. The highest increases were registered in Ireland (+12.2%), in Slovakia (+7.8%), and in Poland (+7.1%), and the largest decreases were seen in Greece (-12.4%), in Luxembourg (-11.3%) and in Finland (-6%).
