In November 2011 as compared with the previous month of October, seasonally-adjusted industrial production fell by 0.1 percent both in the euro area and in the EU-27. In September, production had fallen by 0.3 percent in both zones, month on month.
Meanwhile, in November 2011 compared with November 2010, seasonally-adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.3 percent in the euro area and by 0.2 percent in the EU-27. These figures are released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
As compared to October, in November 2011 production of capital goods remained stable in the euro area and in the EU-27, while intermediate goods remained stable in the euro area and grew by 0.1 percent in the EU27. Durable consumer goods decreased by 0.8 percent in the euro area, but rose by 0.1 percent in the EU27.
Among the member states for which data are available, in November as compared to October, industrial production rose in nine states and fell in 10. The highest increases were registered in the Czech Republic (+2.7%) and in Poland (+1.6%), while the largest decreases were in Ireland (-9.4%), in Sweden (-3%) and in Slovakia (-2.4%).
As compared to November 2010, in November 2011 production of capital goods grew by 4.3 percent in the euro area and by 4.5 percent in the EU-27, intermediate goods decreased by 1.1 percent and 0.8 percent respectively, durable consumer goods fell by four percent in the euro area and by 2.1 percent in the EU-27, while production of energy decreased by 5.8 percent in the euro area and by 6.6 percent in the EU-27.
Among the member states for which data are available, in November 2011 as compared to November 2010, industrial production rose in 10 states and fell in nine. The highest increases were registered in Poland (+9.9%), in Latvia (+8.5%), and in the Czech Republic (+5.4%), and the largest decreases were seen in Greece (-8.2%), in Spain (-7%) and in Ireland (-4.1%).
