EMZ reports production results
The group of enterprises EMZ, which comprises Ukrainian steelmaker Enakievsk MZ and joined Ukrainian-Swiss company Metalen, in July of 2006, produced 195,400 metric tons of pig iron, up 24.3 percent, 224,700 metric tons of crude steel, up 22.6 percent, and 197,572 metric tons of billets, up 25.6 percent compared to July of 2005. During the same period, EMZ dispatch of finished steel products rose 22.6 percent to 221,506 metric tons. In January-July of 2006, EMZ produced 1.289 million metric tons of pig iron, up 18.5 percent, 1.491 million metric tons of crude steel, up 18.8 percent, 1.316 million metric tons of billets, up 25.3 percent and dispatched 1.463 million metric tons of finished steel products, up 19.5 percent from the first seven months of 2005. According to the group's representative, in July of 2006, EMZ produced the maximum volumes of crude steel and pig iron since January 2005.
