Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending October 12, the US rig count fell by two to 1,835, following an 11 rig drop in each of the past two weeks. Year-on-year, the US rig count is down 188 rigs. Rigs searching for natural gas fell by 15 to 422 after increasing slightly last week. The gas-directed rig count is down by 514 from the same week a year ago. The oil-rig count, on the other hand, increased by 13 to 1,411 over the past week, and the number of oil rigs is up 331 from a year ago.
Canada's rig count fell by 11 to 361 after increasing by 13 a week ago. The rig count is down 151 year-on-year.
