Danieli to increase long products capacity of MMK

According to recent market news, Danieli Morgårdshammar, which is a division of the Italian steel equipment maker Danieli Corp., and is responsible for the design and supply of long rolling mills within the US and Canadian markets, has been contracted by Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel (MMK) for modernization of its long-product operations. The current mills of MMK have the capacity of producing10 million mt per annum. The new technology will replace the existing hot-rolling facilities with three new high-capacity rolling mills. With the installation, MMK will have a further capacity of 2 million mt per year. The officials from Danieli state that, the contract was completed earlier this month and the new mills will start operating in 18 months.
