Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) expects to increase iron ore production to 38 million mt/year by 2023, the company told analysts on Wednesday, gradually increasing from the estimated 2018 production total of 28.5 million/mt.

The company plans to produce 31.5 million mt/year in 2019, 30.7 million mt/year in 2020, 31.2 million mt/year in 2021, 36.6 million mt/year in 2022 and 38 million mt/year in 2023.

CSN said sinter feed output should drive the production growth of iron ore. Sinter feed production in 2018 should reach 25 million mt/year. Pellet feed production should account for the remaining 3.5 million mt/year in the company’s forecasted 28.5 million mt/year iron ore production for 2018.
